Céline and Company: About Us
Céline and Michael Lurey
Céline and Michael opened Céline and Company in March 1993, as Asheville’s premier full-service custom caterer. In October 2004 they purchased and restored “On Broadway”, an historic private event facility.
Céline was born in Egypt and moved to Asheville in 1967. Michael is a businessman and lifelong resident and native of Asheville. Together they have traveled the world and brought back many memories and experiences that have enriched their culinary and business lives. They have two children and two grandchildren.
Chef Kim Lloyd
Chef Kim, former Executive Chef of Pawleys Plantation Golf Resort, and Wine Spectator Award winning Thoroughbreds Restaurant, both in the Myrtle Beach area, joined Celine and Company Catering as Executive Chef in 2006. She is an American Culinary Federation Gold Medallist and has led numerous winning teams in regional culinary competitions. She also had the pleasure of assisting her South Florida mentors in an acclaimed Caribbean influenced dinner at Manhattan’s celebrated James Beard House.
“I love helping people celebrate once in a lifetime moments” says Kim with an ever present smile, which makes her the perfect fit into the already acclaimed staff which has helped Asheville residents mark special days since 1993.
Chef Kim and her husband Jeff, also a chef, made their move to WNC after feeling drawn to the area. She brings with her 16 years of culinary and business expertise.
Céline and Michael’s son David Lurey teaches Yoga. He is currently living out a life’s purpose to ‘Inspire Health and Vitality’ by teaching and touring extensively through Brazil, the United States and Europe sharing the teachings of Yoga. http://www.findbalance.net
Their daughter, Nicole Nissenbaum is a preschool teacher living in Tucson, AZ with her two beautiful children, Adam Michael and Jacob Andrew.
